Vietnamese-born players make their mark at 2022 VBA

Dominique Tham (Nha Trang Dolphins)

It would be no exaggeration to say that Dominique Tham is the biggest discovery of the 2022 VBA.

The born-in-1996 player is 1.95m tall and weighs 109kg.

Dominique Tham’s great physique gave opposing defenders ‘nightmares.’

His ball-catching accuracy rate was 7.6 times per game in the 2022 VBA group stage, surpassing that of all other foreign players.

He gained a high rebound score of 17.5 and 16.5 points in two games.

His shot accuracy was 52 percent, making him the Vietnamese-born player scoring the highest points in the 2022 VBA group stage.

At the 2022 VBA season, Michael Soy showed great progress.

The only Vietnamese-born player of the Danang Dragons, Michael Soy was sent out onto the court by coach Phan Thanh Canh for 463 out of 480 minutes of the season.

Overcoming other excellent shooters, Michael Soy scored 35 three-pointers, the highest number of three-point field goals.

Dinh Thanh Tam (Hanoi Buffaloes)

The success of the Hanoi Buffaloes at the 2022 VBA bore the imprint of captain Dinh Thanh Tam.

No. 23 asserted his importance in coach Eric Weissling’s strategy right away although it was his first season playing for the Hanoi-based team.

Tam’s 28 points and MVP title in the second semifinal against the Nha Trang Dolphins brought the Hanoi Buffaloes to the final for the first time after four years.

Vincent Nguyen (Ho Chi Minh City Wings)

Having won the ‘MVP of the Year’ title for Vietnamese-born players at the 2019 VBA, Vincent Nguyen has maintained his form after several seasons.

Dubbed one of the VBA’s best dribbling defenders, Vincent Nguyen was responsible for organizing attacks in the play of the Ho Chi Minh City Wings.

At the 2022 VBA, Vincent Nguyen always played in the starting line-up and was one of the main scorers with an average of 14.1 points a game.

Tran Dang Khoa (Saigon Heat)

When it seemed that Tran Dang Khoa would be absent from the 2022 VBA, William Tran’s delayed recovery from his injury gave Khoa an opportunity.

Khoa’s dribbles and disruption against the opponents’ defense created a lot of space for his teammates to score.

Khoa made his return to the Saigon Heat at a time when the team needed him the most.

His experience at the VBA since the establishment of the tournament helped the Saigon Heat defend its position at the top of the group stage and then win the 2022 VBA championship in style.

In 2022, NovaWorld continued its partnership with the VBA for a second year, serving as a co-organizer of the VBA – Brought by NovaWorld 2022 tournament and maintaining the league’s dedication to fostering sustainable values through destination selection and local community development.

NovaWorld was the title sponsor of the 2022 VBA tourney.

Other sponsors included Nova Consumer, Nova Service, and the PhinDeli brand.

PhinDeli is a coffee producer originally based on Da Lat’s Cau Dat Farm, where fertile soil at an altitude of 1,650 meters and a temperate year-round climate allow for the production of high-quality coffee varieties.

PhinDeli products are manufactured and distributed throughout Vietnam in the form of packaged coffee.

The newly launched PhinDeli Energy coffee-flavored energy drink recently hit the shelves nationwide.

A visit to any PhinDeli location is sure to be an exciting experience in a modern space that is perfect for relaxing and connecting with friends.
